I hope a little self-promotion is permitted -- if you are interested in history, fantasy, and adventure, I'd like you to visit my site http://-
Compared to most other free e-book sites, the number of books is tiny, but each book has been carefully chosen, and even more carefully proofread, edited, and (for the PDF versions) typeset. If you care about proper editing, you'll notice the difference. Books are free (no need to register), and available in plain text, epub, mobi (Kindle) and PDF format, with particular attention given to the PDF versions.
After logging into your Amazon account (this is how Amazon knows where to store your eBooks so you can later access them), you want to go to Kindle eBooks.
It would be great to see an updated version of this article. Some of the links that people mention in the comments are interesting, but not all of the links seem to work. Maybe the sites have gone out of business or something.
I've created two websites where book authors can share their books freely as PDF books. Most of the featured books are new titles rather than old classics.
is home to some amazing image assets. This website is run by Zuhira Alfitra pzUH. He’s an Indonesian game developer with a real eye for great game graphics. The majority of the assets on this site are for sale but there is a freebies section where you’ll find more images like those featured above. As well as these sprites, there is also a selection of tilesets, GUI assets and many more assorted images for you to choose from. They’re also completely free.
is a website that gives an abbreviated version of what is currently on Amazon for free. I do not know the parameters of their filter, but it is faster than going to Amazon. You can also filter for price drops and deals under $6. I have not explored all the features of eReaderIQ, you may find something there that you really love.
The V-Play SDK includes many open-source demos for different game genres. You can use their source code and build your game in record time. After installing V-Play, you can simply open file with Qt Creator, the development environment used for V-Play.
This collection of image and sound assets is brought to you by Crateboy. The best part of this collection is the 8 bit city resource files. Crateboy advertises that there will be enough 66 765 66 tiles for you to build an entire city and there really are. This is some really great work and all Crateboy asks is that you credit him in your game. If you end up using these tiles a lot he also accepts a ‘pay what you like’ option. The use of colour tone in this artwork really makes it stand out from the crowd and could really help to define the look of your project.
You next want to click on Best Sellers across the top and then just to be sure click on Kindle eBooks on the left side. That will bring up the Kindle eBook categories.
Most of the ebooks are available in EPUB, MOBI, and PDF formats. They even come with word counts and reading time estimates, in case you take that into consideration when choosing what to read.
Project Gutenberg is a charity endeavor, sustained through volunteers and fundraisers, that aims to collect and provide as many high-quality ebooks as possible. Most of its library consists of public domain titles, but it has other stuff too if you&rsquo re willing to look around.
Here is another site with free ebooks by nondual spiritual teacher, Nirmala, and his wife, Gina Lake to help you awaken, open your heart, and live more fully in the now:
